I'm reading The Day of the Triffids right now. I'm suspicious of all vegetables...

Nightlight, which is a parody of Twilight.

Adore it. One of my absolute favourite books.

lol! Hmm... might have to find that book. I've read the Twilight series, just finishing Breaking Dawn (which I think is a bit of a let down really), but I must admit, I wasn't overly sure on her take of Vampires. I'm used to the Anne Rice variety. There are some great bits in the books... the author was doing something right, because it was a page turner, but also there were some WTF? moments - especially in Breaking Dawn. I just have to remind myself they're written for teenagers... yet, Harry Potter was written for kids, and I enjoyed those! Hmmmmm...

I'm reading BLEAK HOUSE. It is taking me a very long time to read it. But it is good and I'm getting near the end. I had read it before but forgot some stuff so in some ways it was like reading it for the first time. Cried when poor Jo dies....he was probably my favorite character.

Can anyone recommend books from 2010? I just realized I have read only three books published this year.

Sum by David Eagleman is really brilliant. I saw yesterday that you can listen to parts from the audio-book on the guardians website at the moment. Stephen Fry, Jarvis Cocker and Emily Blunt are reading. If I was allowed to listen to only one voice for the rest of my life, it would probably be Jarvis'. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/david-eagleman)

Little Hands Clapping by Dan Rhodes it was weird and okay, but not really that good. It's about a museum with the theme of suicides in which people regularly kill themselves. Also there is a cannibalistic doctor and a girl who is the prettiest one in her village, but then quiet ordinary in the rest of the world. It is also starring lots of other odd characters.

Cross Country Murder Song by Philip Wilding it is really dark, but in a good disturbing way.

Oh, and I am currently reading Evelyn Waugh - Decline and Fall. So far I have to say, that I enjoyed Vile Bodies much more.

Relishing my spring term at the uni has just finished, I've been celebrating this by reading some not very "demanding" lighthearted stuff: Last Continent by Terry Pratchett (yeah, again), A Pelican at Blandings (Wodehouse) and the Cadfael series (Ellis Peters)... Anyone could recommend me some good, enjoyable stuff to cheer one's tired mind up so that I don't just keep re-reading books I've read several times already (not that I didn't like to read those again, but anyway...)?

I am reading Kurt Vonnegut novels at the moment. Perhaps he would fulfill your criteria?

So far, I've only read his Slaughterhouse-Five a few years ago, but yes, I might give a try to some other Vonnegut's books, thanks for the tip!

No problem. I am nearly finished with Galapagos and so far I love it. Slapstick was really good too.
Also because it fell on my head this morning (really  ) I was reminded of Daniel Kehlmanns Measuring the World. If you haven't read that, it is really enjoyable aswell. Don't let the topic scare you away!
